Estimates & proposals are an optional module in Managello. They're off by default — if your agency doesn't quote work up front, you never see them. You can flip them on (or back off) any time in Settings → Estimates.
Turning estimates on or off
- Go to Settings → Estimates (admin-only).
- Toggle Enable estimates & proposals.
- When it's on, estimate features appear across the staff console and the client portal. When it's off, they disappear cleanly — nothing is left half-shown.
Because this is a real module switch, turning estimates off never deletes anything. Existing estimates are simply hidden until you turn the module back on.
Sending an estimate
- Open a client (or an incoming request) and create an estimate.
- Add line items — description, quantity, rate — plus any discount or tax. Totals calculate in your display currency.
- Issue it. The client receives a fully branded proposal they can review in their portal.
The client accepts or rejects
Clients review the estimate in their portal and accept or reject it, leaving a durable, timestamped record of the decision. You're notified either way.
Turn an approved estimate into a project
Once a client approves, you convert the estimate into a project in one step — the estimate becomes the project's origin, and its line items carry through so you can later invoice from exactly what you quoted. No re-keying scope you've already agreed.
Estimates are the front of the estimate → approval → project → invoice pipeline. If you don't quote work up front, leave the module off and start from projects instead. See The invoice lifecycle.
